Subject Content

The course consists of the following pathways:

 

BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Information Technology

3 Units – equivalent to one AS Level.

 

BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Information Technology

6 Units – equivalent to one A Level.

 

BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Information Technology

12 Units – equivalent to two A Levels.

 

It is an expectation that students will complete six units in Year 12 and another six units in Year 13 giving students a BTEC Diploma in ICT. Whichever pathway students choose there are two compulsory units students need to study:

 

Unit 1: Communication and Employability Skills in IT.

Unit 2: Computer Systems.

 

For students continuing study into Year 13 an additional compulsory unit applies:

 

Unit 3: Information Systems.
